Bedroom studio: interface, honest monitors, one MIDI

Bedroom studio desk

This is the IT-by-day desk that becomes a techno session at night. You do not need a bunker. You need a clean input, speakers that do not lie, and pads or keys so you are not drawing every automation with a trackpad.

Signal in

Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (4th gen if you can). Behringer UMC22 if Scarlett is too much. That is the whole interface conversation for a first techno DAW.

Speakers

Yamaha HS5 plus isolation pads. KRK ROKIT 5 if you want more hyped low end in a small room. Do not skip the pads — the desk will otherwise become a sub.

MIDI

Akai MPK Mini MK3

Headphones for the desk: ATH-M50x or DT 770, not HD 25 (those are booth cans). A Logitech MX Master only if you asked about a DAW mouse — it is not rave kit.
